Blake is 3!

How is this even possible?! It seems like not that long ago I was sitting in a pool in my bedroom trying to get the midwife there before little Blake was born, that didn't happen! But he came when he was ready and I remember knowing how special he was at that moment I held him. He is still just as wild and crazy! I love it, even though it scares me sometimes, I still love it! He insisted that his party be race car themed (not sure where that came from) so I ran with it. We played tire bean bag toss, red light/green light, and then we raced cars on some track I made. It was great! Tomorrow for his actual birthday we have some fun stuff planned so stayed tuned for some more birthday pictures!

Boys Just Want to Have Fuuun

We were playing Hide and Seek last sunday night as a family. He wanted to go hide. We try to explain the concept to Blake after having played a lot already, but he was the seeker. We start to count. He says, "I am gonna hide in the closet". We then say, "Blake don't tell us where you are hiding!" He says okay and runs off while we finish counting. The first place we go when we are done counting is in the living room and there he sits hiding secretly. I am pretty sure he won't be a spy when he grows up!
The other morning I was doing my morning routine and the boys happened to wake up at 6, so they had to find something to do. This is what they found, a clear walking cane apparently = hours of fun for 2 brothers. Who knew?
Saturday night Nathan had a small fever so Blake and I went to the mall to look for shoes for him for his birthday. We came home to the coolest batcave fort ever made by dad and Nathan. The boys have slept in it and love it.

Steelcase Metal Tanker Desk!!!

Months and months ago I went into Goodwill in search of a good deal. I found a tanker desk. I wanted it bad, but alas we lived in a tiny apartment. I passed it up. Every since I have regretted that decision and have been looking for one on craigslist. Finally! I found one, talked them down to $50 and had a friend pick it up. The drawers are super deep so I can pretty much fit my whole house in it (hence the name tanker desk?). One door I keep my printer in, unseen! The other side has a drawer for files, which I love because then I don't need a filing cabinet. It gets even better, the top is turquoise which is the best color God created. I then needed a chair to go with this desk. Again I went to my buddy Craig and found this rockin singer sewing chair and also talked them down in price. The desk is from 1950 and I am not sure how old the chair is, but it is pretty old. I have very much been enjoying the furniture and style from the 50's and 60's lately. Oh and by the way to really bring home how good of a deal I got on the desk, similar tanker desks are going for $1,000 or more on ebay and etsy! Crazy! I love living in Asheville where vintage items are cheap cheap cheap!

Oh January!

How I do not like January. After the warmth and business of Christmas January is so cold and useless to me. Although it does feel good to get organized and back to a routine it is so boring. Ahh well, I guess this is what life used to be like before the house and holidays, so it is just going to take time to get used to. Come on warm weather! The boys though lov to have their picture taken if you couldn't tell, this is what we do when we are bored, take pictures, so stay tuned for more pictures of the boys because I am sure they will abound.

Emerald Isle

The beach was beautiful and wonderful and so much fun and so so so relaxing with not a care in the world! Blake is unhappy on the beach because he wanted daddy to hold him and of course Nathan is happy. I always say (well sometimes) "you can't please em all".

Christmas Is Finally Here!

Wheew! I was up until 3 AM wrapping and baking on Christmas Eve. It was so much fun being at our house for christmas. I am so glad my mom and brother were able to come along too! Christmas morning the boys were obviously so excited. Before opening presents we read our last scripture on our advent calendar and then went around and said something we would give Christ for Christmas. Then we ripped those presents open in about 30 minutes, ate some homemade cinnamon rolls, hash browns, and of course the oranges we got in our stockings. Nathan's big santa gift was a drum set. Blakes big santa gift was a bike. They both got a slurpee maker and tooons of legos!
Uhmm ya, Alex put this together on christmas eve...won't let him ever do that again. Thank heavens the boys weren't racing down a hill when this happened. Alex has a lot of talents but being handy is not one of them ;)
As odd as it sounds I am really excited about the drum set. I want Nathan to learn an instrument and I think this will be a great start. Now I just need to find someone to teach him. Youtube will have to do for now.
My christmas table setting that just had to look pretty for me to accept and eat christmas dinner at.
Yum yum christmas dinner!
My sister is on a mission for our church in California and we got to talk to her! Yippe!
A terrible picture of my brother that I can post on here because he never looks at my blog! Hahahahah... caught him off guard and he was actually sitting there like that was the bad thing!
Overall, a perfect and wonderful christmas! O ya, I got an awesome steam vac from Alex which was a total surprise! I love love love it!
