Date Night

We got another date night. Two weekends in a row...score (thank you girls from church)! We dropped the boys off and went right to Goodwill. I know this sounds like a random date night thing to do, but we were just picking something up, don't worry, the romance is still alive. Early this week I was dropping off some stuff at Goodwill and I saw a twin size iron bed like Nathan and Blake's. I asked how much and I ended up getting it for $15. Ya, I don't need another bed and ya, I don't have anywhere to put it and ya, a twin size bed like this goes for $600 at Crate and Barrel and ya, I am probably going to end up with like 30 of these kinds of beds......but so what....leave me alone! After we dropped off the bed we went to downtown Hendersonville to eat. It was called Never Blue. I just love taking pictures of food from restaurants.
I don't remember what I got, but it had house made hummus, tofu bacon, spring greens, cucumber, tomato, and some other stuff I don't remember. The sweet potato fries were served with a blue cheese dipping sauce. Very tasty!
Alex got meatloaf sliders and sweet potato fries.
For desert we got the phyllo dough wrapped brownie with white chocolate gnache and homemade praline ice cream. It was killer good! See Alex's coloring job in the background there...ya that's his.

Some

Just SOME of the clothes I got at the Jcrew sale. Nathan took most of these pictures for me, so you will have to tell him good job when you see him. By the way...can you tell I love me pink/purple shoes? It sounds crazy, but they pretty much go with anything.
Jcrew=shirts, pants, shoes Belt=from a shirt from F21
Jcrew=orange pants (o yes I did...), shoes Target=pink shirt
Jcrew=shirt Watch=man's watch, from an old guy at Alex's old job (o yes I did...again)
Jcrew=shirt, shoes, pants (pants which by the way, I have to have Alex help me get them off, the ankles are so skinny they don't fit over my feet)
Jcrew=shirt Goodwill=skirt Target=belt glasses=walmart ($3 baby!)

Flying Socks

Okay, I swear I am not depressed. This picture turned out looking sad, but I am not sad. So, can you tell what isn't from Jcrew? Everything I am wearing is from Jcrew except for........the skirt (goodwill). Of course when I say Jcrew... I mean the warehouse sale. I just had to show off some of my sweet finds. Total...shoes and all....$45. Not bad for all brand new Jcrew stuff! My shoes are purple flats by the way...so very comfy...love them...and so does Blake...he said so. On another note: In the car Blake likes to take off his shoes and socks. When he does, he finds it very important to throw his socks to the front of the car. We are driving along and all of a sudden a flying sock hits me in the head or goes wizzing by my head. Either way, it is random.

Happy Birthday To Me!

The day started off a little shaky, I'm not gonna lie, but I went to pick Alex up from work and we went to pick up my cake from downtown Hendersonville. It was very good and very pretty. Alex surprised me with it (after a lot of hinting that I wanted a cake and I didn't want to make my own cake). Shortly after we went to pick up the cake my mom came into town and took the boys out to dinner while Alex and I went to eat in downtown Asheville. We went to Posanna. We had been there twice before and loooved it, so that's what I picked. It is an "Asheville" restaurant, but on the fancy side. All fresh, local, healthy, well thought out food. Alex got the Pan Seared Scottish Salmon: cipollini onions, asparagus, sweet potato hash, cabernet-honey reduction (which I tasted: A+). It was very sweet and fresh with an ounce of sass...just like Alex. I got the Spring Vegetable Risotto: asparagus, grilled spring onions and baby artichoke hearts, peas, chives. It was very cute and simple...just like me. I also ordered a salad that was very plain and simple: lettuce, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, and the best balsamic vinagarette....it was a party in my mouth! If you can see the picture of the restaurant there it is for someone with amazing eye sight to see.
There I am on our way back to the car after eating.
Soooo...the real reason my mom came into town: There is a Jcrew warehouse and store front outlet in Asheville that I just found out about in January. It gets better people....there is a warehouse sale that happens every so often. I experienced this for the first time today. It blew my mind.
My momma, my friend Vanessa, and I all got there about 6:30 AM. There were already about 75 people there waiting. The people at the front had been there since 4 AM and had an air mattress (it made me laugh even typing that). Me, I sat on the curb for a while until the nice lady next to me offered me a seat. It was cold and early, but oh so worth it. I had a dream a few days ago that I was there at the sale and it was like The Hunger Games....my dream was pretty accurate. There were police there and people getting kicked out because they weren't following the rules. It was madness. There are no fitting rooms, so you have to wear clothes that you can try things on over...thus the wearing of tights in 50 degree weather. Oh, and there was no order to anything at all...hence the reason we were there until 12:15. Yikes...that's a long time!
There ended up being probably about 300 people in line when the doors opened. They can only have 200 people in the warehouse...but that includes employees. We got in on the first wave, barely!
This is what it looked like while we were in line to pay. I will admit it: I spent a lot of money. The plus side: it was my birthday money from wonderful family members who love me very much! The other plus side: I got a HUGE trash bag full of clothes and shoes-25 items to be exact. You could get 3 items from Jcrew for what I paid today. I might post some of my sweet buys on here later.

Baseball Saturday

This weekend was dedicated mostly to baseball. Nathan had his first t-ball game. It was a very eventful game. Nathan hit the ball and ran to first and then made it to second. The next kid hit the ball. Nathan made it to third. The next kid hit the ball. Nathan ran really fast to home but stopped about 3/4 the way there. Everyone started to yell at him to run faster because the catcher had caught the ball and was running to home plate to tag him out. So he started to run to home plate towards the catcher who was running to home plate and they both just stopped there and looked at each other. Everyone was screaming, "Touch the base Nathan!" over and over again. He finally touched base and scored. Yay! But then........the next time he was up to hit he was in tears because "everyone was laughing at him". In his mind they were laughing at him, but we were all just laughing at the funny situation. He didn't go up to hit the next time, but at his game yesterday he hit and scored again!

After the t-ball game we ended up going to Pigeon Forge to a TN smokies game. We went because the smokies were playing the generals (a AA team for the Mariners-Alex's favorite team). Alex brought the boys and got a ball signed by some of baseballs biggest prospects right now. We had a great time but left early because of bed time. The next morning Nathan said his eyes got a little watery because he missed the baseball game.

A Basket Case

I have been looking for a basket for the boys outdoor play things for a while, but can't find a tall one that is under $30. So I decided to make my own. I got some chicken wire from Lowe's and went at it with some scissors and plyers. I would like to try to make one with some of the other wire fence material at Lowe's as well....some day down the road that is.

I used some of the spare wire for a church craft night and we made heart rings (saw it on pintrest). Really easy and all you need are scissors and plyers.

One of Those Weeks

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you are just ready for it to be over? I know this month is only going to get busier, but I had a few too many tantrums that I am not so proud of and would like to forget...so sunday will you please get here, so I can start afresh? I do have so very much to be grateful for....a husband who says "yes honey" when I nag and great kids who are healthy, happy, and cute! These guys are what keep me going!

Yep, even my husband the cow keeps me going and makes me want to be a better person. (He was the cow at chik-fil-A for some friends from church-a last minute plea.)

Letters and a Pillow

Remember those cardboard letters I got in my easter basket? Well, let me tell you... the easter bunny got those from Hobby Lobby. Then I sprayed painted the one in our living room gold and the ones in the boys room silver and distressed them a bit with some sand paper. They are hanging up with those sticky tabs from the 3M hooks. I saw this idea on pintrest and they reallly look like they are real metal. Coolest idea I have gotten from pintrest thus far! The letters were only $2.50 each too!

I also changed my wall again...funny huh? I got some new stuff from my grandmother and couldn't resist!

Okay...so the story with the pillow is...I wanted a vintage fabric, but didn't want to spend a lot. It dawned on my that I could go to goodwill and cut up an old shirt and make a pillow case for Blake's room. I found this large shirt in the men's section and cut it up to make a sham! Soooooooo easy easy easy! It was also actually my idea too...not from pintrest!

Easter!

As I was picking out the boys clothes on easter morning I realized I had forgotten Nathan's church pants. I was so upset about this because I wanted the boys to look nice. So instead I went with the preppy Zac Morris look.

After church we went to my Aunt's house for easter dinner and Nathan and Blake hunted like 70 eggs! They cleaned up. I ordered them a new spiderman scooter for the summer with the money.

Easter Eve into Easter Morn

We went to my mom's for Easter. The boys got to spend Friday with Grandma at the children's museum while I rummaged through stuff of my Grandmother's and Alex and my brother Alex painted my mom's dining room.
Saturday we frosted easter cookies (the best in the entire world!) and dyed easter eggs. That night Alex and I went to see Hunger Games (not as good as the book, but very good none the less).

Nathan finally found his easter basket. He first looked in the oven because my mom told him that's where the easter bunny hid hers when she was little.

We all got sunglasses in our easter baskets. Nathan absolutely refused to put on his sunglasses for the picture. Arg! The boys also got some star wars and marvel action figures. I also got some cardboard letters for a project I saw on pintrest that I completed today and I will show in an upcoming post.

These carrot cake muffins are the new easter breakfast tradition. They are baked with a citrus cream cheese filling. So good! Saw these on pintrest as well.
