First Day of Kindergarten

Nathan's first day of school went great! He had no problem with me leaving and he even blew me a kiss when I left. When I came to pick him up from school he was so excited to tell me about his day. Nathan picked out his blue shoes and had a veggie, chips, a pickle, peaches/blueberries, and water for lunch. Blake was sooo sad the entire day about Nathan not being with us and the fact that he didn't get to go to school too. Also, the other day I had to take Blake to the ER because he fell off the couch and passed out for about 30 seconds. When he came to he was fine, but I still wanted to call the doctor and they just told me to take him right to the ER, so I did and we sat there for 5 hours and he was and is just fine....thank goodness!

Some Cool Stuff

O ya, so we are buying a house! It is a total fixer upper. Built in 1978 and hasn't been updated since 1978. We close in a few weeks and we are so excited to get in there and start fixing it up. I have been looking for cheap ways to make it awesome and this week I went to some antique stores in pursuit of "cool stuff". Some of the things on my list: 1. old weathered piece of wood for a mantle for the fireplace (it is a really tall stone fireplace, but no mantle) 2. an old hutch that can be turned into a sink for the bathrooms 3. chandelier for the living room (the ceilings are really high with exposed wood beams and I need a big beautiful chandelier-all that is there now=ceiling fan) 4. wood floors (dream floors = unfinished worn 8 in white oak planks) 5. pendants for the kitchen 6. anything else that might strick my fancy. So here are some fun things I found along the way at some antique stores in Asheville and Brevard:
Would love this table to go on my deck when it is all cleaned up.
I thoughts these lockers would be cool to have in the boys room.
I just loved all these letters and all the different colors they came in!
Some pendants I really love to go above the future kitchen island.
Some possible mantles. These specific beams are from some old barns around here.
I love this light!
Cool bench....and I am a sucker for all things Jadeite.

This Weekend....

My best friend from high school, Serena got married in Nashville, so I went to that. I am so happy for her! Go Serena, go go Serena! We stayed at my moms for the weekend and I hung out with the fam again.
Instead of taking the weekend to relax, the boys decided to practice some gymnastic skills to start early for the olympics.
And then my sister....well she decided to practice eating cereal....out of a measuring cup, for the pure benefit of having a handle. She is working on the patent for making a cereal bowl with a handle.

Lately...

Alex fell asleep early one night. As I was coming to bed, I noticed this feather on his head and it made me laugh.
Blake posing with his doggie.
We had an incident in our back yard, so they brought in a digger and the boys were entertained for the morning.

My Family Makes me Laugh

Heather was insanely excited upon finding robes in the closet at the hotel. We walked in one night and there she sat on the couch in her robe. So, on another night my mom and I went to wash some of the sandy towels and suits at the hotel and came back up and found all this crazy stuff going on. Enjoy.....

Charleston

My favorite bridge ever!
We went with my mom, brother(Alex), and sister(Heather).
So here's the thing about Charleston that I love so much: the FOOD! They have some of the best restaurants that I have ever eaten at. My rule is we have to eat at at least one new restaurant each time we go and of course it has to be a local place as well. The problem with my rule: I like fancy food, Alex likes Hyman's. So we go to Hyman's for him at least once and I go to one of my fancy food restaurants. Compromise....that is what marriage is all about right? So, pictured below is us eating at Hyman's.
The next night we got to go to Five Loaves. I found them on yelp and it was amazing! It was this little hole in the wall jazz like setting. We all got something really good, but then my mom got this AMAZING dish. It was tilapia on garlic mashed potatoes with capers and some other stuff I don't remember. But seriously, the tilapia tasted like steak, it was that good! The best tilapia I have ever had in my life. The price was really good too!
Sunday morning, my mom, Heather, and I woke up to go watch the sunrise at the Charleston pier with the porch swings. It was so peaceful and pretty. Unfortunately, there were a few clouds, but it was still quite a sight! All these pictures below were taken that morning at the pier.
Can I just live here please?
